Ask Senator Murray and Senator Cantwell to support the Mikulski/Specter Amendment adding $25 million for the Non-Profit Security Grant Program. DELIVER TO Your letter will be delivered to the following individuals. Your United States Senators SUBJECT Please personalize the subject line. YOUR MESSAGE Please personalize your message below as desired. Please support the Mikulski/Specter Amendment continuing the Non-Profit Security Grant Program with $25 million in funding for FY 2007. The Non-Profit Security Grant Program is the only program assisting non-profit ogranizations vulnerable to terrorist attack. For the Jewish community, this program is of particular importance because of numerous threats and attacks that have been made against our communal assets by international terrorists at home and abroad. Our communal services – hospitals, social service agencies, community centers – are our most obvious and vulnerable assets. They are the center of life for millions of Jewish Americans. In addition, they provide billions of dollars of critical supportive services, annually, to the general public. In the last funding cycle, the Jewish Federation and educational institutions within the Seattle Jewish community were able to use resources from the Non-Profit Security Grant Program to make important security upgrades. In addition, since 9-11, the intentions of al Qaeda and other terrorists have been illustrated through their successful attacks on humanitarian relief agencies, community centers, schools, cultural centers, and places of worship, among other soft targets. They have hit Canada, Spain, Germany, Iraq, Tunisia, England, Kenya, Morocco, Lebanon, Israel, and Turkey, and they have set their sites on the United States in specific terms (as the attachment illustrates).
