A message from Robin Boehler, Chair, Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle:

It is with a heavy heart that I write about yesterday's horrific shooting at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle's downtown office.

As many of you have heard through the news media and eyewitness reports, five staff members from our Federation -- Cheryl Stumbo, Dayna Klein, Carol Goldman, Layla Bush and Christina Rexroad -- were shot and taken to Harborview Medical Center. We are hopeful that ongoing reports of their improving conditions continues.

I can not express enough my personal sense of loss from the death of one of our dear friends, Pam Waechter, who many of you know well given her countless years of committed service to the local Jewish community. Pam was killed only yesterday and yet we feel her absence already.

Pam's funeral is scheduled to be held on Monday afternoon at 1 pm at Temple B'nai Torah in Bellevue. Additional, broader community response has not yet been scheduled as we are focused on making sure the victims and their families have all the support and care they need.

We realize that this has been a traumatic experience for many in the Jewish and broader community. Jewish Family Service has counselors available to provide assistance and support at (206) 461-3240.
