Young Leadership Division: Building Community Through Service

MenschWorks Applications Now Available

Share your energy and enthusiasm with worthy causes
Meet others interested in community service

Patterned on the successful program, SeattleWorks, MenschWorks allows young Jewish adults in their 20's and 30's, to meet like-minded adults while learning about, and being of service to, the Seattle Jewish community. Commit to one Sunday a month for four months, and meet up with team members for a fun project and new friendships.

Jewish Federation agencies agree to host teams of 20 motivated, capable adults for one-day volunteer projects. Volunteers commit to meet one Sunday a month for four months. Each project is at a different beneficiary agency in greater Seattle.

  • Volunteers must apply to participate. There is a $18 program fee to cover materials and program costs. No participant will be denied because of financial need.

  • Volunteers are placed on a team of 20 Jewish adults.

  • Volunteers commit to meet once a month for four months.

  • Volunteers must be available one Sunday a month for a four-hour block of time.

MenschWorks Schedule

Projects occur once a month, for approximately four hours on Sundays, March - June, 2008.

Tentative Schedule:

March 16, 2008
Kline Galland-- painting and visiting with residents

American Jewish Committee-- helping with mailings for the film festival, helping organize the film library

April 13, 2008
Jewish Family Service-- helping sort/organize in the food bank, helping with Passover basket making and delivery

American Jewish Committee-- helping prepare for closing night of the film festival

May 18, 2008
Shalom Bayit-- helping organize and sort in the warehouse, helping with office work and organization

June 22, 2008
Seattle Jewish Community School, paint/clean/construction to ready the campus for the 2008-2009 school year. (This project will be followed by an end of the season BBQ).
