| The Seattle Maimonides Society is an
honor society for Jewish physicians and dentists. The Society also sponsors
programs which integrate medical and Jewish concerns to demonstrate the
unique contributions the medical profession can make to improve the Jewish
community. Membership in the Society is open to any physician or dentist
who contributes a minimum gift of $1,500 to the Jewish Federation of Greater
Seattle's Community Campaign.
Programs sponsored by the Society are open to all physicians
and dentists and their guests and to others who share common goals or
interests. Past dinner events have featured speakers on topics such as:
"Lessons from Africa: The Story of the Ethiopian Jews," and
"Making Health Care More Jewish," Daytime seminars have focused
on themes like medical ethics and spousal abuse.
The Maimonides Society also affords physicians and dentists
a chance to participate in the work of repairing the world through involvement
in the Community Campaign with programming, peer solicitation, and phone-a-thons.
