March of the Living

March of the Living Teen Trip 2004

On April 18, 2004, thousands of Jewish teens from countries around the world shared in a once-in-a-lifetime experience when they march three kilometers from Auschwitz to Birkenau, the largest concentration camp complex built by the Nazis during World War II. The “March” commemorates YOM HASHOAH- Holocaust Remembrance Day.

The March of the Living is an international, educational program that brings Jewish teens from all over the world to Poland on Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Memorial Day, to march from Auschwitz to Birkenau, the largest concentration camp complex built during World War II, and then to Israel to observe Yom HaZikaron, Israel Memorial Day, and Yom Ha'Atzmaut, Israel Independence Day.

For further details about the program and how your teen might be able to participate, please contact Rivy Poupko Kletenik at 206.774.2262/rivyk@jewishinseattle.org or Sara Lahyani at 206.774.2236/saral@jewishinseattle.org.
