United Jewish Communities Applauds U.S. Senate Passage of Care Act
Increases Charitable Giving Incentives and Social Services Block Grant
United Jewish Communities (UJC) and the Jewish Federations of North America praised the U.S. Senate for passage today of the CARE (Charity Aid, Recovery and Empowerment) Act, which will strengthen the capacity of charitable organizations to support social services and provide incentives to contributors. Senators Patty Murray & Maria Cantwell both supported this bill.

Reading of the Names
Tuesday, April 29th - 10:00am to 4:00pm
  In commemoration of Yom HaShoah, The Washington State Holocaust Education Resource Center, B'nai Brith, The Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle and The Summit at First Hill will present the annual "Reading of the Names." The event will be held at First Hill Park, across from the Summit at First Hill, on the corner of University Street and Minor. Also featured will be a video of our local sailors on the USS Carl Vinson who are overseas protecting our country, reading names of victims of the Holocaust.

Remembering the Holocaust: Bridges of Hope
Sunday May 4th, 2 to 4 p.m. at Temple De Hirsch Sinai in Seattle
Keynote speaker: Dr. Leon Bass presents Bridges of Hope:Overcoming Racism and Anti-Semitism From the Perspective of An African American. Program includes candle lighting ceremony, creative writing contest awards and Excellence in Education Award to Sobibor survivor and author Thomas Blatt.

Women’s Division Presents Turn the Page, May 19
The Women's Division of the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle presents Turn the Page, May 19 at Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue. It is a unique opportunity for women to gather and connect, spending an evening exploring different facets of our Jewish heritage through a keynote address and participation in small group learning sessions with local Jewish educators.
