Now Accepting Nominations for the Jack J. and Charlotte Spitzer Young Leadership Award

The Jewish Federation is seeking to honor the best and most active young leaders in our community by means of the Jack J. and Charlotte Spitzer Young Leadership Award. Winners are given a stipend to attend the annual United Jewish Communities' General Assembly in Jerusalem or another Federation related out of town Jewish communal conference or mission to Israel.

Superintendent of Seattle Schools, Joseph Olchefske to Speak to Federation's Study Buddy Literacy Volunteers.
Study Buddy is a volunteer tutoring program which connects Jewish volunteers with at-risk students in grades K-8 in Seattle and Bellevue Schools. On Sunday, March 30, the Study Buddy Program will host a Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon with special guest, Joseph Olchefske. The superintendent will speak on the state of our public schools and take questions from our education volunteers. There is great need for tutors in our public schools. The Israeli Government Yesterday Advised Citizens to Prepare Sealed Rooms in Their Homes.

LA Times reporter Laura King visited a Tel Aviv family as they responded to this advice. TEL AVIV--Perched in stocking feet on her 8-year-old daughter's bed to reach the window, the red-haired mother of three struggled for a moment to secure a flapping sheet of plastic with heavy tape. The Women's Division of the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle presents Turn the Page, May 19 at Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue. It is a unique opportunityfor women to gather and connect, spending an evening exploring different facets of our Jewish heritage through a keynote address and participation in small group learning sessions with local Jewish educators.
