In Seattle that means teachers studying. Every Monday evening
the Jewish Education Council’s Jewish Teachers Institute runs
its Midrasha, classes for teachers, at Herzl-Ner-Tamid. Five
courses are being offered including; Learning to Teach with
Dr. Beth Weisberg; Why Teach Jewish History? with Chaya Blaut
; With All Your Heart and Soul: Prayer and the Teaching of Prayer

Levy. Teachers participating in Midrasha courses are

From
the youngest to the oldest members of the Khabarovsk Jewish
community, the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle is making
a difference in their lives. The relationship with this
community, located in the far eastern region of Siberia,
began in 1998 when a group of leaders from Seattle visited
there. They were taken by the desire of the Jewish residents,
especially the younger ones, to reconnect with their Jewish
roots after decades of ignoring their heritage. This group
of leaders returned home to Seattle with the desire to begin
a formal funding relationship with the Khabarovsk Jewish
community.
