Strengthening Education for the Future of our Local Jewish Community...

Taking a holistic view of the educational needs of our local Jewish Community, Education Services provides professional development opportunities for teachers and educators who work for Jewish congregational supplementary schools, early childhood centers and Jewish day schools. The teachers who participate in our programs learn how to provide quality Jewish education for our community.

Location: SJCC-Mercer Island, 3801 E. Mercer Way

Janusz Korczak wore many hats--educator, author, doctor and peacemaker. But a large amount of his professional life was devoted to fighting for children's rights. He believed children should be treated with the same respect as adults, and this belief permeated his daily interactions. How can we implement his important lessons for educators today? Learn about his life, his legacy and become part of the international Korczak movement.

Congratulations to Jewish Education Certificated Teachers!

Posted on Friday Aug 10, 2012 3:36 PM

Congratulations to the teachers who received or maintained their Jewish Teaching Certificates this year through Education Services. To receive certification, teachers complete 100 hours of Jewish learning. This includes the Jewish Studies Course, as well as a pedagogy course and a teacher portfolio. Teachers must also complete book reviews and are observed in their classrooms. The Jewish Teaching Certificate is an intense undertaking that will have a direct impact on the students in our supplementary schools.
