Ways to Make Difference
Make a Charitable Bequest in Your Will
A bequest is a smart way to make a gift given the economic times – one larger than you might have thought possible. By designating a specific sum or a percentage of your estate, you can make a major difference, even if you can’t commit any assets today. Your bequest to the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle will help shape the future of the Jewish community. Hold on to your assets during your lifetime, then use your will to dedicate a specific asset, percentage of your estate or fixed dollar amount to create a lasting personal legacy. See more about types of bequests and sample bequest language.
Start a Donor Advised Fund
Like a charitable “savings account,” these funds allow you to set aside tax-deductible dollars now and have tax-free investment growth for future philanthropy. Charitable grants and additional contributions can be made at any time based on your financial and charitable goals.
Perpetuate Your Annual Campaign Gift
When you endow your annual gift, you guarantee your gift to the Jewish Federation’s Community Campaign. Each year, those in our community and around the world who depend on our support will be grateful to those who had the foresight to endow their annual gifts.
Give a Gift of Appreciated Stocks or Real Estate
Benefit from a tax deduction on the current market value of appreciated stocks or assets and avoid capital gains tax. See the results of your charitable dollars now, during your lifetime.
Establish a Charitable Remainder Trust
Generate a guaranteed, current income stream to support college education, retirement or other purposes, with the remainder ultimately supporting the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. Realize a tax deduction now.
Create a Charitable Lead Trust
Contribute the current income to charity from assets which ultimately will be transferred to your heirs.
Purchase a Life Insurance Policy
Fund a substantial future endowment at modest current costs. Deduct the cash surrender value of existing policies along with current and future premiums.
