12-14 year olds are invited to set up a personalized Youth Mitzvah Fund at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle.

The Jewish Youth Philanthropy Program, or J.Team is comprised of teens from 9th - 12th grade who share a common interest in social action. Meeting monthly over the school year, they will participate in nonprofit site visits and community service projects, while learning about Jewish values of giving.

Faith Prevails for Jewish High School Basketball Team

We would like to say a hardy Mazel Tov to the girls basketball team at Northwest Yeshiva, an Orthodox Jewish high school of about 95 students on Mercer Island, for being the first Jewish school in Washington history to qualify for a state basketball tournament. Equally impressive is the stand you have taken by not competing on the fast of Esther, the day before Purim. You have shown your true colors and are an example to athletes, girls and boys, and religious people everywhere. Read the story in the Yakima Herald.

Israel Scholarships for Teens-- First Deadline

Our Israel Scholarship Committee will meet for the first time on February 25, 2010. It will be helpful for those who wish to submit applications to do so by that day. Applications received after that date will still be reviewed in a timely manner.

Partners in Haiti Relief Making Progress: Need Still Great

The Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle is partnering with the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) to direct and provide aid to Haiti after the devastating earthquake. Our hearts go out to all who have lost a loved one and who are in dire need of medical, food, emotional and other ongoing support.

We urge you to donate to the JDC Haiti Relief Fund. Recent federal legislation allows you to take any Haiti donations as a 2009 tax deduction if you wish.

For days, the only operating room in Haiti was that of the Israeli Field Hospital. Read more.

Jewish Social Action Committee (JSAC) and J-Serve FAQ's

What is J-Serve?  J-Serve is the national day of Jewish teen community service.  Teens from all over the puget sound partcipate on one day joining teens from all over the United States to make a difference in their world one day at a time.

When is J-Serve?  J-Serve will be held on April 25, 2010.  New this year will be a kick-off event on March 21, 2010.
