The Cardozo Society of Washington State gained valuable recognition when it was hosted by the Attorney General of Washington, Rob McKenna, on Friday, January 16 at his office. McKenna hosted and introduced Cardozo Society co-chair Aric Bomsztyk (of Barokas, Martin & Tomlinson) and Rabbi Will Berkovitz for a talk entitled "Using Law to Repair the World: Public Interest Lawyering and Tikkun Olam."

Bomsztyk gave a compelling address to the attending attorneys about the Cardozo Society and what Cardozo hopes to achieve and provide as a minority bar and as an organization that supports the legal profession.

Rabbi Berkovitz spoke about the concept of justice in Jewish tradition, how that conceptualization plays a role in so many Jewish people becoming attorneys and the parallels between the rabbinic creation of the Talmud to the creation of modern law and modern legal concepts like precedent.

One of a series of private Diversity Brown Bag Luncheons hosted by the AG's Diversity Action Committee, the talk was the most well-attended diversity-oriented event ever hosted by the DAC.
