Brown Bag CLE for Cardozo Legal Professionals

Please join us for our Brown Bag CLE program, "How Jewish Law Is, and Is Not, Like American Constitutional Law," on August 27, 2009 from 12:00 - 1:30pm.

This CLE for Cardozo Society members will be facilitated by John Schochet and will compare and contrast American constitutional law and Jewish law. This session will examine how the Supreme Court derives American constitutional law from the text of the constitution, how the Talmud and later rabbinic figures derive Jewish law from the text of the Torah, what role binding or persuasive precedent plays in these legal systems and what role political considerations play in these legal systems.

A light kosher lunch and refreshments will be provided.
