GSJBN Professional Networking & Communications Workshop

October 13, 2010 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Greater Seattle Jewish Business Network

Join the Greater Seattle Jewish Business Network on Wednesday, October 13 for an hour of professional networking, followed by a workshop conducted by Marguerite Langlois entitled Effective Communications: Making Real Connections. Please RSVP to ben [dot] meyerhoff [at] gmail [dot] com (subject: GSJBN%20Event%20on%20October%2013) (Ben Meyerhoff) to confirm your attendance.

The session will focus on the effects of constant “e-communication” and the need to slow down our connections. Participants will examine ways to listen actively and create a path for meaningful communication.

These points will be highlighted:
1. “E-communication” and its effects
• Loss of contact
• Reduction of time to think
• Less meaningful conversation

2. Meaningful communication
• Listening comes first; listening to others and to ourselves
• Deciding what to say and how to say it
• Opening a path
• Responses and how to continue the conversation
• Working toward results

3. When it doesn’t work
• Common problems
• When conflict arises
• Getting back on the path

About our speaker: Marguerite brings over 35 years of experience with training in business and non-profits into her classes and presentations. She has designed and managed training programs for community groups, corporate training, and small businesses.
