Action Alert: Urge against deep safety net cuts in the face of a weakening economy
Tomorrow, a new revenue forecast will be released. All indicators point to a deepening state deficit, already at $6 billion. This revenue forecast will frame the debate and the budgets crafted by the House and Senate. In the face of our state's growing economic crisis, it is important to remind lawmakers that deep cuts in health, human service and education programs hurt people when they need these valuable supports the most. Programs like GAU, Apple Health, Basic Health, Refugee and Immigrant Services, nursing home reimbursement rates, adult day health and many others help people stay healthy, find work or both.
