Children Are Our Future: J-Serve 2010
The theme for J-SERVE 2010 is Children Are Our Future. And it is set to be one of the biggest teen social action events this year. Sign up now to be a part of this day of action.
J-Serve started over five years ago as a Jewish response to a national day of youth service held yearly on a Saturday. Due to the Shabbat restrictions, many Jewish teen across the country were unable to attend. Therefore, a day of service was conceived on a Sunday and this year J-Serve—the national day of Jewish teen service—will be held locally, nationally and internationally on April 25, 2010.
Teens from the Jewish Federation’s new Jewish Social Action Committee are developing, planning and implementing our local J-Serve. The committee is made up of teens from every denomination, youth group and movement in the area, with the Stroum Jewish Community Center, BBYO, NFTY, USY and Hebrew High all represented. The social action committee is also partnering with NCSY/JSU for an all city dodge ball event on April 11 to support Haiti and promote J-Serve.
For more information on our project or to register to be a part of this day of service, go to www.JewishInSeattle.org/JServeSeattle.
Special thanks to Panim, a program of BBYO, for a $2,500 grant the Jewish Federation received to help make our local JServe program even more successful.
