Expanding the Number of Birthright Israel Participants From Seattle

Did you know that last year, 99 participated from Seattle on a Birthright Israel program? That’s the good news. The bad news is that 391 applied – and experience has shown that not all of these applicants try again. That means that there are people we could potentially be helping that fall through the cracks. That’s why Birthright Israel requires additional funding to send more students on this amazing program.

In late October, the results of the 10-year Birthright study conducted by Brandeis University were released – and they were impressive. 60% of participants are more likely to marry and raise Jewish families. 73% of trip participants indicated that the trip was “a life changing experience” and participants are 25% more likely to report feeling “very much” connected to Israel.

Through December 31, there is currently a challenge grant that will match $2 for every $1 contributed by Seattle community members to Birthright Israel – your gift and half of that match will go directly to sending more participants from Seattle on the program; and the other half of the match will support the program itself. It costs $3,000 to send a participant on the program, and we invite you to contribute $1,500, which will enable one new Seattleite to go, or you can enable two new participants for each $3,000 donated.
