Teachers Complete 13-Week Pedagogy Course
On May 25, 2010 the Pedagogy Course taught by the Jewish Federation's Liat Zaidenberg celebrated the end of its 13-week course (39 hours of learning!). Educators from many different schools—day schools, supplementary schools and early childhood centers—celebrated the completion of this class by presenting their Portfolios to fellow educators. The participants spent the year learning about different topics, such as Teaching in the 21st Century, Conditions for Powerful Learning and Multiple Intelligences. Each participant was required to write reflections on each class session, create and implement a related lesson plan, and reflect upon and report back to the class. Each participant also had to present a year end portfolio. The participants had great things to say about the course… "I could go for days on end about how great this course is…", "Without a student, there is no teacher… Liat makes her students want to learn", "The wealth of knowledge and variety of teaching styles we were introduced to was phenomenal. I have adopted many of the strategies we were taught and they fit right in to our teaching philosophy at my school", "I appreciate the opportunity to participate in this course and believe that it make me a better teacher".
The Pedagogy course is also part of the Jewish Teaching Certificate program facilitated by the Jewish Federation's Jewish Education Center and includes a stipend.
