Volunteer Spotlight: David Goldfarb

With a long history of Jewish influence in his life, it only made sense for David Goldfarb to turn to the Jewish Federation as a resource for volunteering in the community. Solomon Schechter, USY, a "phenomenal" trip to Israel, and parents heavily involved in their own Jewish community in Florida: all these things create a recipe for someone engaged with the Jewish community for life.

David recently graduated from Seattle University with a degree in law, and is studying intensely to pass the Washington State bar exam now. While studying for the exam, he decided to volunteer his time to give back to his community. David is actively working with the Jewish Federation's Planned Giving and Endowment Department, sharing his knowledge of law, passion for planned gifts and tributes and interest in learning more about the importance of planned giving for nonprofits.

After steadily volunteering for the past four months, David appreciates the people he's been working with and the projects he's been working on, so much so that he's looking for other ways to get involved. He has joined the camp scholarship committee, plans to volunteer in Olympia with our Director of Government Affairs, and plans to donate law services pro-bono to the Cardozo Society once his law career takes off.

David says of his experience, "I've learned so much about institutional funds and the maintenance of nonprofits. I also had no idea about how many ways there are to donate to a nonprofit."
