Volunteers Needed!

Are you interested in doing more for your Jewish community? Do you want to learn more about how the Jewish Federation impacts Jewish people here and abroad, and help make those decisions?

Consider serving on a committee or helping out in our office.

There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available at the Federation depending on what your interests may be. There are openings in everything from helping out at our special events, aiding us in the maintenance and upkeep of our organization's database, completing several administrative tasks and more. Regular responsibilities like preparing and sending out mailings, making phone calls and copying are necessary in every department.

For those looking for a more interactive and long-term commitment, we have a number of opportunities available on several of the Federation's committees. As we unfold our new philanthropy and allocations model, we will be creating a number of new committees focusing on new priority areas from Jewish camping and teen experiences to stabilizing lives in crisis and human needs in Israel and overseas. Other committees include:

  • The Planning and Allocations Committee (PAC) evaluates agency proposals and needs and then discusses and determines allocations for the next fiscal year.
  • The TIPS Committee works with partner agencies to strengthen relationships between American Jews and Israel's and to promote cross-cultural understanding.
  • The Israel Scholarship Committee determines where allocated funds should be placed for teens attending Israel programs, depending on an individual's application.

Committees are a great way to get involved in the Federation and learn more about how the organization works from the inside.

If you or someone you know is looking for an internship, we also offer part-time internships. We provide hands-on experience for college students looking to gain real-world skills and experience. Marketing, accounting, development and community services are currently accepting applications for those interested.

For questions or more information about any of the volunteer opportunities we mentioned, please contact Rachel Schachter at RachelS [at] JewishInSeattle [dot] org or call 206-774-2236.
