Teen Programming
The Jewish Federation offers numerous activities, programs and ways to connect for teens in our community.
Hebrew High
The Community High School of Jewish Studies or Hebrew High is a dynamic, elective-based program for teens from 9th-12th grade. Jewish teens who attend Hebrew High span the spectrum of Jewish beliefs, backgrounds and traditions and many are affiliated with synagogues, youth groups and youth movements. Other teens are under-affiliated and find their connection within the Jewish community through our school.
Jewish Social Action Committee (J-SAC)
The council is made up of teens from the numerous youth movements in our greater Seattle area. Through JYC they network with other teens; have leadership opportunities; plan the annual national day of Jewish teen service, J-Serve day, and have fun!
Jewish Youth Professionals Association
Leadership and vision for the JYC is provided through the Jewish Youth Professionals Association (JYPA). JYPA members are the youth leaders of each of the youth movements.
J-Serve
A national day of teen service is held each year where 9th-12th graders participate in a community- and nation-wide community service day.
Youth Mitzvah Fund
12-14 year olds are invited to set up a personalized Youth Mitzvah Fund at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. With money donated into the fund by friends and family, teens can grant a portion of the funds each year to the charities of their choice, keeping enough in the fund to last throughout high school. Teens that have opened a Youth Mitzvah Fund are invited to attend three programs on giving, which include nonprofit visits, community service opportunities and discussions on Jewish values of giving.
J.Team or Jewish Youth Philanthropy Team
J.Team is comprised of 9th through 12th graders who meet monthly during the school year. They will explore Jewish values on philanthropic giving and visit an array of amazing nonprofits who service our community, Israel and other countries around the world. Participants volunteer together on community service projects and work as a team to decide where to donate over $8,000 of charitable funds.
