MenschWorks

Be a mensch!

MenschWorks is a volunteer program that allows Jewish adults in their 20's, 30's and early 40's to meet like-minded adults while learning about, and being of service to, the Seattle Jewish community. Service days are once a month on Sunday, January through June, and feature various volunteer activities at a partner agency of the Jewish Federation (see the list of our 2010 projects is below).

MenschWorks 2011 will begin in January and we are currently looking for volunteer leaders to serve on the MenschWorks Committee. Do you have great ideas for how Jewish young adults can give back to their community? Help develop our next series of volunteer service projects! For more information, contact Cameron Levin at CameronL@JewishInSeattle.org.

How MeschWorks Works

Partner agencies of the Jewish Federation agree to host teams of motivated, capable adults for one-day volunteer projects. Each project is at a different partner agency in greater Seattle.

  • Volunteers are placed on teams of Jewish adults.
  • Volunteers must RSVP in advance to the sessions they wish to attend.
  • There is a $18 program fee to cover materials and program costs. No participant will be denied because of financial need.

MenschWorks volunteers gave their time to help the following organizations in 2010:

January 24, The Summit at First Hill

February 21, Seattle Jewish Film Festival

April 11, Washington State Holocaust Education Resource Center

April 25, J-Serve

May 30, Jewish Day School

June 13, Jewish Family Service
