Bashert is the LGBTQ Initiative of the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. Bashert reaches out to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender and questioning Jews in Greater Seattle in order to build a stronger, more inclusive Jewish community. This initiative creates opportunities for Jews to come together, celebrate and explore their Jewish identities in a welcoming environment.

Light the Night: A GLBTQ Hanukkah

Please join us for Kolenu's Light the Night: A GLBTQ Hanukkah, and celebrate the miracle of Hanukkah as we honor eight community leaders, including our own Zach Carstensen,  Director of Government Relations and Public Affairs who have been influential in our local fight for equality. We'll have everything from latkes to dreidels, and the evening will also include a beautiful candle lighting symbolizing both the miracle of Hanukkah and the idea that great leadership and community action will prevail against oppression.

Super Sunday Community Phone-a-Thon

Once a year, hundreds of people gather together to plug in, power up and make a difference in a single day: Super Sunday 2012. It's the Jewish Federation's annual phone-a-thon, and the impact you can help us make is enormous.

With only our voices and a common vision, we reach out to thousands of donors and raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to support the Federation's annual Community Campaign.

Register Now: Maccabeats to Perform at Campaign Kickoff

The Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle is excited to announced that YouTube sensations, a cappella group The Maccabeats, will perform at Seattle Center's Marion Oliver McCaw Hall on Sunday, September 18, 2011, to help launch the Federation's 85th year of Jewish giving in Seattle. Lorna and David Isenberg will chair the Community Celebration and Campaign Kickoff, which will also introduce the Jewish community to the Federation's new philanthropy model, a fresh direction in giving to Jewish agencies in Seattle and beyond. We will also recognize the community dedication and many years of service of Herb and Lucy Pruzan.

Maccabeats to Perform at Kickoff

Fresh on the heels of the explosive success of their 'Candlelight' and 'Purim Song' videos on YouTube, The Maccabeats, Yeshiva University's a cappella group, will perform in support of the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle's 2012 Community Celebration and Campaign Kickoff on Sunday, September 18 at McCaw Hall.

Pride Shabbat 2011

Join Kolenu and the Seattle Jewish community for Pride Shabbat 2011! This year's event will be held during Seattle's Pride month on Friday, June 24.

Pride Shabbat 2011 is open to the community and is a celebration of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning Jews, friends, allies and families.

The evening will start with pre-service appetizers at 6pm with the service to follow at Temple De Hirsch Sinai in Seattle. Immediately following the service, participants are invited to attend the oneg, a post-service celebration, with light snacks and desserts.
