Board & Committees

Committees

We are looking for a diverse group of Jewish adults who are interested in getting involved in the Federation either after time away, or as a launching pad to future Federation leadership roles. Being on a committee is a great way to introduce yourself to the Federation and learn more about our organization.

We have a number of committees that may be of interest. To join, contact Noa Guter at noag@jewishinseattle.org.

Special Initiatives Fund Committee (SIF): The Special Initiatives Fund Committee reviews and allocates funding from three separate endowment accounts: Small & Simple Grants, Women’s Endowment Fund, and Small Agency Sustainability Grants. The committee meets only after a grant deadline passes to score proposals and allocate funds.

Government Affairs Committee (GAC): The Government Affairs Committee is comprised of Western Washington Jewish agencies along with several community members. The committee discusses current and potential public policy issues and help to shape the work of our Government Affairs Director and contract lobbyist.

Israel Scholarship Committee: The Israel Scholarship Committee distributes funds for teens requiring need-based scholarship to attend an Israel Experience Program. The committee evaluates applications on a quarterly basis (either in person or via email depending on the number of submissions) to determine scholarship award amounts.

Camp Scholarship Committee: The Camp Scholarship Committee reviews applications sent in by Seattle families to help fund their children’s trip to Jewish overnight and day camp. The committee meets in the spring to evaluate applications and decide how to distribute the allotted funds.

Emergency Capital Needs Committee: Comprised of board members, community members and staffed by the VP of Planning, the Emergency Capital Needs Committee meets on an as-needed basis to review emergency capital requests submitted by community non-profits.

Other committees include: Planned Giving, Finance & Administration, Investment, Capital Needs, Communications, Women’s Philanthropy, PAVE Seattle, Maimonides, and Cardozo and Newcomers. Contact info@jewishinseattle.org to find out more.
