SUMMARY:Commemorative Friday Night Service
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a special Friday night service marking the 20th anniversary of the tragic shooting at the offices of the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. This Shabbat service will honor the memory of Pamela Waechter z”l\, who was killed during the attack. \n\n\n\nPamela was an active and caring member of the Jewish community. She served as President of Temple B’nai Torah and as a regional officer of the Reform Movement. She also volunteered as an organizer at the Jewish Family Services Food Bank and as a cook for a local women’s shelter. Pamela worked at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle in multiple roles over the years\, including Director of Outreach and Director of Annual Giving. \n\n\n\nOn July 28\, 2006\, Pamela was killed by an antisemitic extremist during a shooting attack at the Federation’s office. She left behind two beloved children\, a devoted group of loving friends\, and a heartbroken community. \n\n\n\nIn 2007\, the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle established the Pamela Waechter z”l Jewish Communal Professional Award to recognize and honor a Jewish communal professional who embodies the leadership\, dedication\, and spirit of service that Pamela brought to our community.  \n\n\n\nAs we mark 20 years since this tragic attack\, we invite the community to come together in remembrance. May Pamela’s memory be a blessing. \n\n\n\nNo RSVP required.

SUMMARY:Drawn to Resist: Comics\, Courage\, and the Fight Against Nazism
DESCRIPTION:At a time when antisemitism continues to rise\, the Holocaust Center for Humanity is responding with something unexpected: comics. Created by the Holocaust Center for Humanity and premiering in Seattle from August-November 2026\, Drawn to Resist: Comics\, Courage\, and the Fight Against Nazism explores how Jewish artists in the 1930s and 40s used the emerging medium of comics to confront Nazism\, champion justice\, and refuse silence. Featuring large-scale artwork and original panels\, the exhibition blends art\, history\, and popular culture to show how creative courage can inspire resistance today. Following its Seattle debut\, the exhibition will travel to museums nationwide. \nThank you to our sponsors: 4Culture and the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle
