SUMMARY:2026 Rosh Hashanah Gift Bag Making & Delivery
DESCRIPTION:Thank you for your interest in creating and delivering Rosh Hashanah Gift Bags with support from the Tina B. Novick Jewish Holiday Basket Endowment Fund! \n\n\n\nThis event involves creating and delivering gift bags to members of our community. This is a wonderful volunteer opportunity for families and individuals. We welcome anyone to volunteer with us regardless of religious background\, sexual orientation\, gender identity\, or socio-economic status. We welcome interfaith couples and families too! \n\n\n\nThis event will take place on Sunday\, August 30\, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at JFS Capitol Hill (not including time spent making deliveries). Please be sure to calculate your delivery time in addition to the event time for this opportunity.  \n\n\n\nYour volunteer shift will involve gathering at JFS to create the gift bags that you will be delivering\, and then setting out to deliver them along the route you’ve signed up for. We will also have an opportunity for a brief reflection on Jewish values as they relate to volunteerism and the upcoming holiday! Please plan on arriving no later than 10:00 a.m. so that we can get started promptly.  \n\n\n\nBelow\, you’ll find details for each of our available delivery routes (most routes include between 3-6 drop offs). JFS staff will be in touch with more details including instructions and delivery addresses as we get closer to the event. \n\n\n\nThank you for helping our community members welcome a sweet new year!  \n\n\n\nIf you have any questions\, please reach out to volunteer@jfsseattle.org

SUMMARY:JFS Community-Wide Food Drive & Food Sort
DESCRIPTION:The JFS Community-Wide Food Drive begins Friday\, September 11\, and culminates with our annual Food Sort on Sunday\, October 18. \n\n\n\nThe Food Sort is a hands-on opportunity for individuals\, families\, and groups to sort and organize thousands of pounds of donated food for the Polack Food Bank. Each year\, volunteers like you help us provide healthy food—with dignity and respect—to neighbors throughout the Puget Sound region. \n\n\n\nWhy Your Help Matters \n\n\n\nDemand at the JFS Polack Food Bank is at an all-time high. This summer\, 337 people visited the food bank in a single day—the number of guests we used to serve in a week. \n\n\n\nFood insecurity is rising across Washington\, with food bank visits up 70% since 2021. Meanwhile\, food donations and funding are decreasing\, and federal cuts to programs like SNAP are deepening the crisis. \n\n\n\nYour support helps keep our shelves stocked and our neighbors fed.

DESCRIPTION:Join Rabbi Ronit Tsadok\, Director of Project Kavod\, for monthly\, stand-alone learning opportunities that draw on Jewish wisdom and spiritual tools. Project Kavod at Jewish Family Service (JFS) connects our critical work to the core Jewish values that inspire and guide our mission. All members of the Jewish community are warmly invited to participate.  \nThis year\, we will be offering a hybrid option\, so you could join virtually if that’s preferred. Participants are encouraged to engage in discussion as much or as little as they feel comfortable.  \nFor those attending in-person\, the learning will be hosted at the JFS Capitol Hill office.
