Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. #WeRemember.

We remember the 6 million Jews murdered in the Holocaust and the memories, dreams, vibrant lives, and loving family ties that died with them. We remember the deliberate acts of hatred, terror, genocide and destruction that the Nazis inflicted on the world only two generations ago.

We must never forget, so that we will speak out, forcefully and as often as necessary, against intolerance, bigotry and discrimination, against the “otherizing” that was the root of the Holocaust and all acts of genocidal hatred, before and since.

We must never forget, because remembrance is the foundation of our work for a just world, where all individuals can live peaceful lives in freedom and safety, regardless of who they are, what they look like, where they came from, or what they believe.

We remember the Jewish values by which we live and work – welcoming the stranger, fighting injustice, repairing our world, supporting Israel and Jewish communities everywhere, and being a voice for the voiceless.

#WeRemember. Now and always.
