Sonya Basseri Chosen as Local Grinspoon-Steinhardt Awardee

We would like to congratulate Sonya Basseri for being chosen as the winner of the 2010 Grinspoon-Steinhardt Award for Excellence in Jewish Education. This award is given out locally across the country to educators who have made a commitment to the field of Jewish education.

Beth Huppin Receives National Covenant Award

We would like to congratulate Beth Huppin, a Judaic Studies teacher at the Seattle Jewish Community School, on being chosen to receive one of three Covenant Awards granted nationally each year. We also thank her for her dedication and commitment to our Jewish community.

Teachers Complete 13-Week Pedagogy Course

On May 25, 2010 the Pedagogy Course taught by the Jewish Federation's Liat Zaidenberg celebrated the end of its 13-week course (39 hours of learning!). Educators from many different schools—day schools, supplementary schools and early childhood centers—celebrated the completion of this class by presenting their Portfolios to fellow educators.

Unique Playgroup Idea

Host Your Own PJ Library Storytime

Infuse your home with Jewish book-based education while having fun with your friends!  Host a mini-storytime at your home. PJ Library Seattle will provide a 30 minute storytime with appropriate age based education based on the book.

How to host a storytime:

  • Recruit a minimum of 10 families
  • Provide space, food, and refreshments

8th Grade Open House @ Hebrew High

High school is just around the corner and that means driver's ed, SAT tests, and college applications.  But it also means fun stuff too, like, USY, BBYO, JCC, NFTY, NCSY, JSU and Hebrew High!

Come check out Hebrew High at our special night for 8th graders.  Interact with other students, sit in on our classes and meet the teachers and staff that run Hebrew High.  As an added bonus, students already enrolled with serve as your personal escorts for the evening.

Turn the Page A Tremendous Success

Last night's Turn the Page was tremendous! Over 150 women from the greater Seattle area gathered, dined, learned, laughed and bonded as a community. Attendees participated in two inspiring breakout sessions led by impressive women from our very own community. These intimate learning opportunities, plus dinner and a hilarious keynote address, imparted valuable lessons and life tips and made for a very enjoyable night out.
