Nominate a Leader Who Inspires

Each year, the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle honors outstanding leaders in our community. We are inviting the community to submit nominations for three distinguished awards recognizing emerging, lifelong, and communal professional leadership. 

Learn more about each award and the criteria below, and submit your nominations by May 8, 2026. We will announce the award recipients in late May and honor them at the Federation’s Annual Meeting on June 25, 2026.

Young Leadership Award

The Jack J. and Charlotte Spitzer Young Leadership Award is awarded annually to recognize emerging leaders who have demonstrated strong commitment, leadership potential, and impact in the Seattle Jewish community. Officers or members of any Jewish communal organization and other interested Jewish groups in the Seattle area may submit nominations. 

Up to two recipients will receive:

  • A $1,000 stipend to attend the Jewish Federations of North America’s (JFNA) General Assembly, an annual Jewish communal conference, or a Federation-sponsored mission to Israel.
  • $500 to designate to a local Jewish 501(c)(3) organization of their choice.

The Jack J. and Charlotte Spitzer Young Leadership Awards are limited to young adults between the ages of 25 to 40, who have taken an active interest in the Federation and other Jewish organizations, and who have demonstrated outstanding volunteer leadership in the Jewish community.

Note: During the selection process, if multiple candidates are scored equally, special consideration will be given to those individuals who have participated in Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle activities.

Francine R. “Frankie” Loeb

Courageous Leadership Award

The Francine R. “Frankie” Loeb Courageous Leadership Award honors an outstanding volunteer within the Seattle Jewish community who exemplifies the values and characteristics of Frankie Loeb. This prestigious award celebrates individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to the welfare and prosperity of the Seattle Jewish community and the Jewish people.

Francine R. “Frankie” Loeb Courageous Leadership Award nominees must meet the following criteria and embody many of the values and characteristics of Frankie Loeb, including:

  • Resilience and Courage – Takes risks and steps outside of comfort zones, leading with integrity, strength, and determination, even during challenging times.
  • Visionary Leadership – Inspires others with bold ideas, a clear vision, and a commitment to the future of Jewish life in Seattle.
  • Deep Dedication – Demonstrates a lifelong commitment to strengthening the Jewish community locally, nationally, and globally.
  • Strategic Impact – Demonstrates strategic thinking, critical planning, and actions that lead to long-term, sustainable change.
  • Collaboration and Inclusivity – Fosters partnerships and brings people together to create meaningful progress or change.
  • Community Engagement – Actively participates in Jewish communal life and seeks out opportunities to improve and support the community.
  • Mentorship and Role Model – Serves as an inspiring figure and role model for others, encouraging others to lead and engage in the community.
  • Compassion and Empathy – Demonstrates care for others, providing support, guidance, and encouragement in all aspects of their leadership.

This award is intended to recognize those whose leadership has made an extraordinary impact on the Jewish community. Nominees should be volunteers who have consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership and a profound commitment to the values and priorities of the Jewish Federation and the broader Seattle Jewish community.

Nominations for this award may be made by anyone – professionals or community members. One award winner will be chosen each year by the Francine R. “Frankie” Loeb Courageous Leadership Award Selection Committee.

Jewish Communal Professional Award

Pamela Waechter z”l

Jewish Communal Professional Award

Pamela Waechter z”l was a dedicated volunteer within and outside of the Jewish community and worked as the Director of Annual Giving at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. Pam was killed in a shooting attack at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle on July 28, 2006. In 2007, the Federation’s Board of Directors created this award to recognize and honor a Jewish community service professional who embodies many of the leadership and service qualities that Pamela Waechter z”l brought to our community. The Federation invites you to submit a nomination for the 2026 Pamela Waechter z”l  Jewish Communal Professional Award.

Nominees must have a minimum of five years of professional experience in the Seattle Jewish community and exemplify the values and legacy of Pamela Waechter z”l, including personal and professional commitment to the continuity of the Jewish people, high standards of professionalism, creativity, innovation, and forward-thinking leadership. 

Each recipient will receive:

  • A $1,000 grant to support continued professional education.
  • A $1,800 Chai Award, generously provided by an anonymous community donor, which may be used at the recipient’s discretion.
  • Award nominees must have a minimum of five years of professional experience in the Greater Seattle Jewish community and must currently be employed by a Jewish organization.
  • Nominees should embody many of the qualities of Pamela Waechter z”l, including:
  • A deep personal and professional commitment to the continuity of the Jewish people
  • High standards of professionalism, including creativity, innovation, leadership, integrity, respect, kindness, inclusivity, and collaboration
  • Strong knowledge of and dedication to their work and services provided
  • Consistent job performance that exceeds standard expectations
  • Service as a role model for other Jewish communal professionals and/or lay leaders
  • Active engagement in the Jewish and/or broader community outside of professional responsibilities
  • Warm, caring, and respectful interactions with peers and colleagues
  • Demonstrated commitment to going above and beyond in their role
  • Individuals who are not often publicly recognized for their commitment and contributions

Note: If multiple members of the community wish to nominate the same individual please combine your responses into one nomination.
