Meet Lior Caspi, Federation Board Member!

November 5, 2025

We are proud to shine a spotlight on the dedicated leaders who serve on the Federation’s Board of Directors. Each board member brings their unique experience and passion to our shared mission of building a vibrant Jewish community here in Seattle and beyond. Get to know Lior Caspi, At-Large Member, below!

What inspired you to join the board?

I first joined Gvanim (“shades” in Hebrew), a program designed to explore the complex identity of Israelis living in the United States. This program introduced me to poetry, essays, and many discussions among a small group of Israelis living in the Pacific Northwest. Its goal was to encourage Israelis to take leadership roles in the Israeli and Jewish community, and it succeeded in getting me engaged! I became involved with Limmud Seattle, then with the Israel & Overseas Committee of the Federation, and eventually was invited to join the board. I love getting people to learn and connect with each other.

Why is the Federation’s mission important to you?

I believe that a strong relationship between Israel and the Diaspora (especially, the United States) will help build a strong and resilient Jewish community and support people in finding their purpose in life. I think the Federation is the catalyst for engagement of both affiliated Jews (those who belong to synagogues) and unaffiliated Jews in places like Limmud, book clubs, folk dancing, and more.

How do you hope our work impacts the next generation?

I think that by focusing on reaching Jewish people across our diverse community – children through PJ Library and camps, young adults through networking and leadership development, and adults of all ages through community engagement opportunities – we can help Jews connect with one another and find communities where they feel at home.

What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?

I am not an extrovert. I enjoy talking with people one-on-one. I do ask lots of questions in board meetings! 🙂

Anything else you would like to add?

I travel to Israel frequently, and I hope to build strong relationships between our Jewish community in Seattle and Israelis so they learn about each other and their cultures. I believe that learning Hebrew can play a special role in accomplishing this.

Lior was born in Israel, spent 15 years in the Israeli Navy, and moved to Seattle with his family in 2000. He was a technology project management professional. Lior is Limmud Seattle’s Board President and past Board President of the Seattle Jewish Chorale.
