Reflections from Federation’s President & CEO

November 14, 2025

Dear community,

Last night, I was honored to see so many of you join us for the 2025 Federation Fall Fundraiser: Together in Hope. Over 800 members of our community came together to hear our inspiring speakers, Rachel Goldberg-Polin and Jon Polin.

Rachel and Jon showed us what it means to show up as leaders during the darkest moments and how their faith helps anchor them. They shared moments of light as they recalled their son Hersh as a young man dedicated to promoting peace, as a friend with a great capacity for empathy and a gift for listening, and as someone who believed in living a life with purpose. Their strength in showing their vulnerability and their commitment to carrying on Hersh’s legacy is truly inspiring.

In my remarks during the evening, I spoke of Rabbi Simcha Bunim of Peshischa and his teaching about holding two ideas in our pockets at the same time. As a Jewish people, we have long wrestled with complex ideas and the need to hold multiple perspectives simultaneously, especially over the last two years. My hope is that, as a community, we can continue to embrace and celebrate our rich diversity of opinions, backgrounds, and affiliations while creating deep connections and supporting each other. You can view my full remarks in the video below or read the blog.

I am grateful to our event co-chairs, Naomi and Josh Alhadeff, for their leadership in putting this event together. The Federation exists to ensure a strong and vibrant Jewish community, and the presence of so many of you last night was a remarkable display of what it means to come together.

Shabbat Shalom,
