The Importance of Endowment

Life & Legacy®, a partnership program of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation (HGF), assists communities across the US and Canada to promote after-lifetime giving to build endowments that will provide stability to the organizations comprising the fabric of Jewish life. The initiative has given participating Jewish organizations tools, training, and motivation to integrate after-lifetime giving into their philanthropic cultures. Life & Legacy enables dedicated community members to assure Jewish tomorrows.

In Their Own Words

“Congregation Beth Shalom could not have grown its legacy program as much as it did without Life & Legacy. Period.

“The program provided us with all of the things we needed to succeed. First, it gave us concrete goals together with incentives to reach those goals. Second, it gave us the forms and materials (e.g., LOIs and formalization forms) needed to run a legacy campaign. Third, it provided training and discussions with others in the cohort. This was very valuable.

“Life & Legacy also required us to do the strategic planning to ensure that our legacy program will continue into the future.” Amy Stephson, Legacy Team Member

Temple Beth Hatfiloh Logo

“We joyously included gifts to (Temple Beth Hatfiloh) in our estate planning because TBH has been a critical part of our lives since we started attending as a family in the mid-1980s. TBH has been there from the beginning through simchas and shivas. When we finally were given the right to legally marry after 32 years together, we had our wedding at TBH. Helping provide for TBH’s future through the Life & Legacy program is but one way that we can give back to secure its future for generations to come.” Lisa Brodoff and Lynn Grotsky
