The long and tumultuous legislative session ended Sunday, April 27. After a contentious budget-writing process, with leaders facing a projected $12 billion budget shortfall, the legislature passed its final budget, and it now awaits Governor Ferguson’s signature.
While funding amounts are far less than previous years, given the cards stacked against us, and the fact that many programs were eliminated, we are proud to share that our two lead priorities — Nonprofit Security Grants and Holocaust and Genocide Awareness Education —were partially funded in the final budget!
Please join us in thanking our legislators for funding these critical programs and asking the governor to sign the budget.
YOU were a critical part of our successes. Whether you emailed your legislators about how critical Holocaust education is, came to Jewish Community Lobby Day, or donated to make our work possible, we couldn’t do this without you!
Take action today tothank your legislators for ensuring these critical bills and investments passed the finish line and urge Governor Ferguson to sign the budget! And thank YOU for making our work possible.
Stay tuned for a full rundown of how all our priorities fared!
